Krishnamurti Study Centre Sahyadri

Krishnamurti Study Centre Sahyadri, KFI – exists for the sole purpose of enabling people to study Krishnamurti’s Teachings – while staying at the centre, using the library (The Study) and participating in retreats and dialogues.

Located in the picturesque valley of the Bhima River, the Krishnamurti Study Centre Sahyadri is an integral part of the Sahyadri Education Centre of Krishnamurti Foundation India. It is built on a hilltop plateau of the Tiwai hill, towards east of Bhima Shankar – the source of the river Bhima in a remote hamlet in interior Maharashtra. A winding road takes one up to the Study Centre. In the distances are the Sahyadri ranges. The landscape and the climate make for an ideal place for a retreat and an inward exploration.

The Study Centre campus has 12 cottages for visitor stay, and an office where Krishnamurti’s books are available for sale. To study the Teachings – there is a hall with unique architectural design shaped like a lotus, the hall also serves as the main library which contains books of/on Krishnamurti. The building exudes serenity and serves an atmosphere for deep inquiry.

The Krishnamurti Study Centre Sahyadri is situated on a plateau on a hilltop. The campus is common to both the Sahyadri School and the Study Centre. Distance from Rajgurunagar (Khed) is 26 km, and about 70 km from the Pune city. Rajgurunagar is well connected by buses, taxis and other means of public transport to and from Pune – which is linked by air and railway directly from Mumbai, Chennai, Bangalore, Delhi and other major cities of India.
Arrangements for pick-up from Pune or Rajgurunagar can be made for the visitors upon a sufficiently advance notice.
Yearly weather pattern at Sahyadri is characterized by a distinct monsoon season and dry, clear conditions for the rest of the year. During Monsoon (June – September) and Winter (November – February) it is advisable to keep a layer of light warm clothes handy during your stay.

Group Study RetreatMonthly

The spirit of the group-study is to come together as friends who are interested in the discovery and inquiring into their own daily lives, the human existence. We do not assign any particular theme for a retreat, so that the retreat naturally evolves through the group dynamics.
“Our Self, the core is the word, the label. If the label does not matter, if what matters is that which is behind the label, then you are able to inquire but if you are identified with the label and stuck with it, you cannot proceed.” – J. Krishnamurti, The First and Last Freedom: Q&A
The study-material used for the group retreats will be based on the teachings of J. Krishnamurti. The format includes group discussions and reading together the study-material, screening of videos, having a conversation as two friends about human predicament and the way we live.

A maximum of 10/12 participants can join the group-study retreat registered on the first come first serve basis.

* Important Note:
– The first day of the retreat is considered Arrival Day, all participants are requested to arrive anytime before 5:00pm. Intention of this day is that one can leisurely settle down and acquaint oneself with the surroundings, and also attend an introductory session as a group.
– The second, third and fourth days are the Three main days of the retreat, the participants are required to attend all the sessions fully during these 3 days.
– The fifth day is considered as the Departure Day, wherein typically participants leave the campus after morning breakfast.
Participation fees are Rs. 3600/- per person (persons earning in India) or US $120/- (persons earning abroad) for the entire retreat. Charges include an independent room accommodation and the food. Typically we create a WhatsApp group 1/2 days before the retreat – for coordination among the participants, such as shared transportation etc.
