Reena Sahu

M.Sc in Environment Science; B.Sc, B.Ed

Reena joined Sahyadri school in 2006 as an Environment Education teacher. In her first few years she taught the senior school and now she is with the little ones, and she continues to be part of the Land care team. It has been an interesting exploration with children, uncovering the biodiversity on campus with changing seasons. In many ways, the younger ones in the classroom, little older ones in dorm and the work profile has helped her to reflect about various things including herself. It has also helped in applying herself in ways she wouldn’t have done otherwise.

Prior to Sahyadri, she’s had an enriching experience getting to know the biodiversity of Sanjay Gandhi National park, working at Conservation Education centre of Bombay Natural History society, Mumbai which included the insects, plants, birds etc. and in other field trips to different forests in India. The inclination towards nature started during the field trips of M.Sc. and it has only become richer learning more about various life forms at Sahyadri and traveling to wilderness during vacations. She has also been exploring places, communities and organisations which believe that living in sync with nature is the only way forward. The little wonders that she discovers, the resilience and the quietness in the natural world of Sahyadri, refreshes her to take on the challenges.
