Sangita Chakraborty.M.A.(Bengali Language and Literature, Calcutta University),B.Ed.(Graduating in June,2021-WBUTTEPA),B.Music and M.Music in Hindustani Classical Music (Bharatiya Nandanik Parishad),Sangeet Visharad in Hindustani Classical Music and Nazrul Geeti (Prachin Kala Kendra,Chandigarh).
Sangita teaches and tries to cultivate the liking and passion for Hindustani classical music among students from the junior to the senior school.This includes introducing the basics of ragas and taals to students and helping them practice songs from the School’s Geetgunjan – a book which is a compilation of Shlokas,Bhajans and Songs from different parts of India. She also helps the seniors who opt for additional music subject to develop an appreciation for the subject by encouraging them to compose their own tunes – sargam patterns,taans and alaps.She also teaches the instrument harmonium.At her leisure, Sangita enjoys doing sketching,painting and craft-work.
The natural beauty of the Sahyadri campus and its surrounding captivates Sangita’s imagination.The place has its own unique philosophy and culture,and she believes it has taught her to look at life holistically.
